Charlie Koopman

Assistant Coach Charlie loved basketball from an early age. From watching Iowa Hawkeyes games with my dad from as early as I can remember, to a player who helped lead his team to an Iowa High School State final, and now, to coaching the game I have always loved. I married a basketball girl from a basketball family so as you can imagine how intense we are when March roles around. By day (and by night) I serve as a pastor at Oak Pointe church in Novi with my wife Martha. We have four children: Cooper, Claire, Christian and Caleb. I started coaching when my two youngest were in a rec league and they were short coaches. Coaching is much like pastoring; you teach, apply, repeat, and over time, people grow whether it's in their faith or basketball skills. In my case, it's both! I have a passion to see these players grow not only in their skills as basketball players, but as teammates, friends and followers of Christ.
